  • Accessing a shared folder on Server 2008 from Windows 98 legacy appliance

Are there any applications existing (similar to Windows Services for Unix) that might allow a pre Win98 machine to access the shares on a Server 2008 server in a domain.

    Scenario:

Win2k8 in a domain. WinXP in a workgroup and pre Win98 machine that has no access to Win2k8 machine.

Is there an application/utility that might allow the XP machine to act as a gateway such that the share on the Win2k8 box can be mapped to the XP machine, which in turn can be accessed from the pre Win98 appliance for fle storage to the Win2k8?

I've not tried this personally but it could be worth a go for you - DSClient, this allows Win98/ME to connect to a W2K/W2K3 domain.
