  • DFS shared folders become deeply hidden

I've seen this now on two sets of Windows 2008 servers (64 bit)

Shares are replicated to another server using DFS, users map to network drives via the DFS path and have no problems

After some unknown length of time the folder acquires "deeply hidden" attributes (hidden + system) and can no longer be seen when exploring the parent drive. It is perfectly visible as a share.

Has anyone else seen / solved this little "feature"?

Re: DFS shared folders become deeply hidden

    Probably not relevant but:

Does DFS Replication support replicating an entire volume?
    * DFS Replication sets the System and Hidden attributes on the replicated folder on the destination server(s). This occurs because Windows applies the System and Hidden attributes to the volume root folder by default. If the local path of the replicated folder on the destination server(s) is also a volume root, no further changes are made to the folder attributes.
