  • Log-in prompt for folder access

We have a folder on a Windows 2000 server to which only certain AD groups can get access.

Any user not in these groups trying to access this folder by browsing the network will simply get an access denied message, however what i would like instead is to have a log-in prompt appear to ask for credentials for a user with access permissions rather than just the access denied message.

    Is this possible?

What do you need it for?
i dont think there is something that builds in the system in order to do that (please someone correct me if im wrong).
there is something that should work for local accounts not for ad accounts

on the other hand you can use something like that http://www.protect-folders.com/
    Good Luck
