  • Web servers cluster

Dear experts, just one more question please!

I'll need to organize web servers cluster (web farm ?) for our website. I am going to install W2k3 on three servers.
    Please recommend:

    1) which operating system would be the best: Standard edition or I can use Web Edition for my goal ?
2)how to create Web servers cluster (Web farm)? Could you please give a links to the websites with the information about clustering ?
3)is this difficult to backup/restore any server-member of the cluster ?

    thank you,
    Mihail

    Re: Web servers cluster

Either Web or Standard will work. To cluster web servers you'll use NLB or maybe round robin.

If you're using a database with your website you'll need to use server clustering if you want fault tolerance for that as well. Note that applications need to be designed to use Server Clustering if it's going to be an option.

Backups are performed as normal. Depending on how you set up NLB each server will have it's own IP address and also the cluster address.
