  • logon scripts not running

i am trying to run logon scripts using group policies, and i swear i've looked at this book like 10 times, double checked to make sure the scripts are in the right place, and everything does seem to be in the right folders.
i'm trying to map drives for whoever logs on.

    filename: drivemap.bat

    net use s: /<servername>/folder
    net use h: /<servername>/folder

that is the commands i have in my file. i set the group policy for the OU group i made, and edited the script setting there. I also tried putting the "drivemap.bat" file in the windows\sysvol\netlogon folder, and still when i login from a client computer it does not run the scripts.

place the the file in the right dir
    \\domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.local\scripts\

then add in the userproperties the as loginscript: drivemap.bat

    by the way,

it is net use h: \\servername\sharename and not
    net use h: /<servername>/folder

      thanks for the reply

yes, i did place the script in this dir,
      \\domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.local\scripts\
      sorry for being sloppy.

and by user properties do u mean click on the profile tab and type just type the script name? drivemap.bat? or would i need to type the path?

      \\domain\netlogon\drivemap.bat

because i typed the path above and it did not work, but i'll just try typing in drivemap.bat

anyreason this script will not run under the group policies of the OU i set it for?

On the subject I also have a little question.

When the a drive is mapped in WinExplorer it displays like this...

            "sharename on 'computer' (z)"

I know I can rename it to "myshare(z)"

Can I get the script to rename it? - I only ask as my users seem to get very confused and a simple name would be better than the longer default naming style.

            Thx

p.s. sorry for hijacking this thread
