  • cant back up system state

MY dc is w2k3 sp1. the system state will not back up.
    i get the error:

    Backup Status
    Operation: Backup
    Active backup destination: File
Media name: "sysstatebakab.bkf created 7/19/2006 at 3:43 PM"

Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1.
"NTDS" has reported an error 0x800423f0. This is part of System State. The backup cannot continue.

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:800423f0
    Aborting Backup.

    ----------------------

The operation did not successfully complete.

when i when to MS site, they had a few fixes, but I am not sure they apply to me.
is this a problem with the fact it is on my dc, or is it a config issue?

Are there any good light system state back utils?

Re: cant back up system state

Its not only because it's a DC, check your configuration. I just attempted it one of our DCs here and it works for me.

None of the senarios in this KB article applied to you?

There are a couple of hits in Google about this error. Have you tried using a shorter name for the backup, like 8 charactors? Just an off thought.
      1 1 was a racehorse.
      2 2 was 1 2.
      1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
      2 2 1 1 2
