Have you configured Port Forwarding for ports 80 & 443 on your router?
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,

If it prompts for a login then I think it isn't a firewall/router issue.

@yayh: Send a screen shot of the login prompt and the error message after trying to login. Have you tried entering the user name in the username field as DOMAIN\username?

Is the pop-up windows a Security Alert by any chance?

Re: OWA not working from internet

i attached the errors which i face during login to owa

i have USR router and i add in NAT table forwading the ext. port 8585 to internal port 80 to sbs 2003 web server.

so IIS will responed to request on port 80.

Are you using SSL? If so, like biggles said, you'll need to forward port 443 as well...

SSL doesn't necessarily have anything to do with authentication. It is used for encrypting traffic to the website.

What is the URL for the page that displays The page cannot be displayed? Does it start with https://?

Re: OWA not working from internet

                  URL http://XXXXX.dyndns.org:8585/exchange

note: URL never changed to Https://*****

now OWA requests password 3 times then displays Error: Access is Denied.

Have you tried and forwarding port 443 to the ip that is running the exchange server and then enter https://xxxxxx.dyndns.org/exchange in your browser.

To eliminate the firewall / router can you setup a any any rule and forward everything to that server. If it works after that then it is a problem witht he firewall/router config.

                        Hi there,

Have you tried logging in with the SBS administrator password to see if you will be allowed in? Maybe the web interface is not OWA but the SBS web management interface....

                        (just a thought)

                        Best of luck to you,

Re: OWA not working from internet

Hello - ive run into this problem aswell - it came with the fact of using a non-standard port for OWA.

IE forwarding port 8585 from external address to port 80 on exchange box.

I am NOW adjusting and trying to fix this problem and how to get it to work on a non standard port. Try forwarding port 80 to port 80 on exchange box and resturn with results to prove my therom. Hopefully.

                            Cheers

                            EDIT:

From researching the net - i found out that OWA Virtual Directory/IIS setup will not respond to a 'forwarded' port, therefore changing the default website port from 80 to x, and forwarding that port will work.

IE http://thesite.comxxx/exchange - and chaning default website on IIS to same xxxx will work. (With port forwarding)

Re: OWA not working from internet

but i did not forward to OWA Virtual Directory i forward to default website
and what i did i forward the request from 8585 to the router and from router to iis on port 80.
so iis recived the request on port 80 normally. did not work

and i aslo try to the direct port 8585 from internet to iis on 8585 still the same not working.
