  • AD and winnt4.0

I have a windows server 2003 domain and 150 clients.
I have a remote departement member of the domain that has an it's subnet.
In this departement i have 1 winntsrv4.0 server to replai the user list and 10 clients.
In the main site i have implemented group policy to set the password.
I' d like to set a policy for the password also for this subnet that run's winntsrv4.0.

    All the client's are windowsxppro.

    Re: AD and winnt4.0

The WinNT sybnet contains domain (The NT is DC?!)?
The NT password policy is very limited (Review user manager for domains tool settings).
Also, I dont see nay reason why not to move to 2003 ASAP.

For an NT4 network, you need to use passfilt.dll to enforce strong passwords.

See the following article on how to implement passfilt.dll as well as other hardening techniques for NT4 networks.
