  • Local admin logon missing

I am running two 2k3 servers with SP1 as my domain controllers. The option to logon locally is not available. The Local Users and Groups are not listed in Computer Management. How can I enable local user accounts so that I can log on locally. I have no problems logging on locally with my Exchange and file servers.

    Thanks,
    TB

    Hi tbeav83.

There is no SAM on a domain controller. All logons for the DC are authenticated by AD. To administrate the accounts you need to use "Active Directory Users and Computers" in the Administrative tools.

      Hi tbeav83,

Once if you run the domain controller you cannot able to login as

locally ,this is why if you login as locally the momment it will not provide the

support for the memer of domains. So it should be the domain controller mode

      always.

      Thanks & Regards

        Re: Local admin logon missing

Thank you for the information. I need to check my group policies as Windows Update has been restricted by the network policy. I ran the updates on the Exchange and file server by using the local admin account.

        Thanks again,
        Terry
