  • Windows 2000 Admin problems

I have an old laptop with Windows 2000 which was recycled from my old place of employment. It was given "as is". I do not have any disks, etc. that came with the computer. I can log on as a user, but I do not have admin rights.

When I try to log in as "administrator" with what I think is the password, I get a message that the "Domain is unavailable".

The computer is no longer part of a network. Is there a way to log in as administrator? I do not think it is strictly a forgotten password problem, but it may be.

If I simply upgrade to Windows XP, will that solve the problem?

    Thanks ,

Log on with the local administrator account. Not a domain account.
