  • Can't access MySQL

I installed IIS, PHP 4.4.2, MySQL 5.0 in my pc. In http://localhost/myweb/install.php , it asks for MySQL username. When i tried the root username and password, it says "Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client". But its already the latest MySQL version. I think its with the configuration problem.
    I appreciate your help....

I ran into this several months ago and after scouring the internet, I found that indeed that PHP 5.x was not compatible with MySQL 5.0.18 and it's authentication mechanisms. The resolution was to uninstall PHP 5.1.1 and go the latest version in the 4.x series (4.3.11) which did the trick for me.
