  • Restored files from backup are set for read only

    I recently backup files from a server which I plan on decomissioning... I have restored these files along with Acitve Directory to another server which I am using as my production server... I have recreated the shares on the new server and pointed all user to the shares on the new server... My problem is all of the files (excel, word & PP data) which I have restored to the new server are in read only format... How do give full access for these files back to my users..

    Hello,
    Did you restore the NTFS permissions also?
    In order to disable the restored files read only attribute you have several options
    1. Select all top level folders that contain files with read only attribute, properties and first check Read only attribute, Apply and than uncheck the same option. Let the system to operate the modification for all subfolders and files;

    2. Use third party tools.
