I want to automate the Antivirus update through scheduling in Active Directory.
I want to schedule the task and want to apply it to the group policy but dont know how to accomplish this task can anyone help me out.

I dont want to update softwares manually at client side.

    Re: Automate Software Update

What antivirus do you use? Most A/Vs have an update scheduler built into the software.
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

I am using Mcafee Enterprise Edition 8.0i.

I have not allowed internet to my users so therefore automatic update is out of the question.

Regardless A/V if i would like to update any of my software or patch any software on a regular basis then what should i do? how could i schedule task through group policy as i dont want to make schedules at client side.

Have a look at McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator.

Does exactly what you need it to do.

              already seen ePO 3.6?

to bad, it doens't support SQL2005 yet cause resently i needed to upgrade ePO 3.5 to 3.6, and they also upgraded SQL2000 to SQL2005. Right now i'm running it on a MSDE database (about 150 clients so it's possible).

Haven't seen 3.6 as of yet.

We only have a couple of small sites to manage so the MSDE does us fine.
