  • My Network Places

    Hi,
One of my servers, Windows Server 2003, is not present under My Network Places\Entire Network\Microsoft Windows Network\Domain. Not viewable from any other servers or workstations. How do I show it?

    I tried...
    - Restart Server service
    - net config server /hidden:yes (though it was already set to yes)
    - Checked computer name and its descriptions not too long

Well, still not there. Does anybody have a tip about how to display it under the specified location mentioned above(Microsoft Windows Network\Domain)?

    Thx
    t-ro

    Re: My Network Places

has netbios been diabled on the server.

My network places uses NetBios for name resolution. If you disable NetBios then the computer will not appear

        Re: My Network Places

        Check the following:

        1. Insure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on your LAN network adapter
        2. Check that the Computer Browser service is running, and is set to Automatic
        3. Check that the TCP/IP NetBIOS helper service is running and is set to Automatic
