  • Virtual PC Windows Server 2003 as backup

I'm thinking of creating a virtual Windows Server 2003 set-up, using Microsoft Virtual PC, as part of a back-up of our server systems.

If I create a virtual domain controller, then I should have a back-up of active directory that could be used to recreate the domain. Such a server image could also contain DNS information. The virtual PC definition could be saved to a variety of back-up media for easy retrieval.

Does anyone have any comments, see any pitfalls, etc?

...for instance, are there likely to be problems in having a domain controller that is likely to be unavailable for most of the time?
