  • Question about licensing ...

    Hello,

A friend began to install "Windows server 2003 Standard" on a server. This server will be hosted in a specialist in France. The server will host some (1/2) personnal website (small website).

During installation time, he choosed this :
    http://www.petri.com/images/2003setup23.jpg

By "number of concurrent connections" that talk about IIS connections ?

Is it possible to change the number of concurrent connections after isntallation ? Or the type of licensing ?

    Thanks,

    C.

    Re: Question about licensing ...

You can change it one way only if I remember, to Per Seat.

But just because you can technically change it doesn't mean it's legal to, check the licensing you purchased from MS as to which mode to use and how many CAL's etc you bought.

For a web server you should be using Per Seat (or per Device it's now called).

In the Microsoft Wolrd the most difficult I think it's the licensing, not easy to understand what I have to buy ....

OK then ha has to switch to per seat.

With the current setting "5 concurrent connexion" that's mean only 5 people in the same time can access the web sites ? 5 it 's the number of Windows user ? 5 is the number of person with a login (windows, email, ftp, ....)

If there is more than 5 what's happen? Everythink it's blocked ? OR it's "just" not legal ?

      Thanks,
