  • How do I change Domain Name with 2003 R2 controller

I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 AD domain with only one domain controller. I would like to change the domain name from mydomain.finance to mydomain.local .... There is only one forest with one domain and one domain controller. Network settings will stay the same, same gateway, same DHCP configuration, same DNS server, etc..... Is there a step by step available for doing this. I am only needing to do this because .finance is a top-level internet domain and I'm starting to have a few problems with local hostnames resolving to 127.0.53.53 ip address and I've read where I shouldn't be using .finance as part of my domain name even though I've had it for 15 years, be easier for me to just change it but haven't done that before. All of my Client PC's are XP or Windows 7.

If DNS is configured properly then you won't have issues. I suggest resolving the DNS issues.

Follow Wullie's advice in your other thread and see if the fixes your issues.
