  • ADC - Raising Functional Level w/ Exchange 2003

    Hi All,

I am currently running 2003 R2 SP2 with Exchange 2003 SP2 on the same box. Would it be okay to raise the the level to 2003? or a there preparations that needs to be done.

My plan is to migrate the AD to a 2008 R2 box and running AD separately while leaving the Exchange on the old box for now.

    TIA for the Help!!

Re: ADC - Raising Functional Level w/ Exchange 2003

You do know that unpromoting a DC with Exchange on it will break Exchange rather badly? (one reason why Exchange on a DC has always been a no-no)
See http://theessentialexchange.com/blog...a-summary.aspx among many other references

AFAIK raising the FL will have no effect at all - you are not modifying the schema, just throwing a switch to say "no older DCs"
