  • help with dhcp server

    hi all
i suspect that i have another dhcp server in my network. when trying to renew address i somtime get 192.168.0.xx address instead 192.168.3.xx
i have few cisco routers and switches in my network, intel small switch and 3com switch/hub.

is there a util to find all the dhcp servers in the network?

    thank you

    moti

    Re: help with dhcp server

When you get an address which is 192.168.0 on a client, type ipconfig /all at a command prompt. In that list it will tell you the IP address of the DHCP server that gave out that address.

    Hope that helps

When you get an IP address on 192.168.0.x

go into a cmd prompt and type ipconfig /all

It should tell you the IP address of the DHCP server you are using.

If your using XP go into the properties of your network connecting and make sure you dont have an alternative IP address configured

              thanks for the help.
now, is there an application that can query the LAN for all DHCP server (no matter what ip address is configured?) and tell you what servers are up?

                  Re: help with dhcp server

Do your DHCP Clients belong to a domain or to a workgroup? Because if they belong to a workgroup, they can connect to an unauthorized DHCP server.
