  • Don't get locked for editing

    Hi!

Most people have this problem in excel

    foo.xlsx is locked for editing
    by 'another user'.
Open "Read-Only" or click "Notify" to open read-only and receive notification
when the document is no longer in use

But I have bigger problem It doesn't report that the file is already opened in Excel.(maybe other programs also, but not confirmed)
And it happens 1 times of 50 maybe...
This means trouble, the file can be over written by mistake.

    What can be the problem?
    Office 2007 latest patches.
    Client : Win7 64 bit
    Server: SBS2003 latest patches.

Worth verifying if it is this file only by testing others as well.

        Check the following:

Tools > Share Workbook will tell you who has the file open.

If the checkbox is ticked the file can be edited by more than one person at the same time. Is the workbook(s) shared?
