just spent over 6 hours searching through backups for some excel files a user lost. couldnt find them in any backups. then i found them in the dfsprivate conflictdeleted folder with new names on them. got them all back ok but i got to thinking. i guess what microsoft wants is for the end user to check the replicated folders every morning for this conflictdeleted folder to see if anything was deleted.
    right ? noooooot . what a pos.
am disabling the dfs entirely and going to casper server editiion to replicate the entire hd.
    seems better.

    Is there a question here?

The conflict deleted means that two people tried the edit the file at the same time on different servers. Instead of just overwriting the file, DFS moved the older version to the conflict folder.
