  • Dead DC in domain

    Hello,

I am looking at a domain with 4 DC's two on remote sites and two in one location. All servers running server 2003.

Apparently last year one of the remote sites ceased to exist and the server was removed.

I noticed whilst investigating some issues this DC held the Schema and Domain Role Owners Roles.

I am looking for the best way to remove this server from AD sites and services and move the roles.

I assume just seizing the roles from the powered off DC will be sufficient? After doing so can I just delete the powered off DC from AD sites and services and run a metadata cleanup?

    Your assumption is correct.

Ditto Ser Omly. Just make sure that powered off DC never comes back online.
