  • Active Directory "Managed By Attribute"

Hoping someone could answer this for me.

Is there anyway around adding more than one user to manage a security or distribution list? The Distribution\Security Groups only have one option. Perhaps even with another security group, I believe this is possible.

There's also most probably a way by using ADSIEDIT or by making changes to the Schema.

I used the following Powershell command which worked for each user to manage the distribution list\group:

Add-ADPermission -Id 'groupname’ -User tollgroup\user -AccessRights ReadProperty, WriteProperty -Properties 'Member'

However, I would still like to know if a Group can be used to add to the 'Managed By' field on the distributuon list so that we can manage it easier?

If you have Exchange 2010 you can add multiple managers for a DL, but in general I think your only option is to use a group as the manager -- IIRC you need ADSIEDIT to set the property as ADUC won't show groups
