  • DNS problem with 2 NIC

There are 2 NICs on Windows Server 2003.
NIC1 is connected to Internal network and NIC2 - to external one.
DNS is configured to listen the client requests on NIC1.
However NSlookup reports "Defaultserver: unknown"and IP address of NIC2.

DNS does not respond to client's request.

    Help, please!

Re: DNS problem with 2 NIC

    Just a thought:

are your PCs configured to the Internal NIC for DNS?

I know this sounds silly but I find a lot of the time complex looking problems have very simple causes.

      Hi,
      Ensure

1). Your DNS server has properly setup with Reverse and forward lookup zone
see what it return at your DNS server !?

2). Ensure you have specify DNS server Address properly

3). Have you nslookup from any of other client system ? is it returning a domain full name properly ?

4). Ensure service is running properly !?
