  • Page Filing settings with 2G of Ram

Does the same theory hold true in which you allocate 1.5 times the initial size and be equal to the maximum?

Seems to be a rather odd concept with 2G of onboard RAM. Or remove page filing all together?

The computer is used mainly for gaming, internet, basic business application, photo editing at times.

      Don't delete your pagefile.

Have a look at this for more info

That's old information. I can't believe microsoft would still recommend 1.5X for the initial page file with systems that have 2G...or am I wrong? In allocating my limit based on usage is simple enought...run my pc normally, run some extra applications and check your peak usage in Performance under Windows Task Manager.

Ok, so don't shut-off page filing.

Just for started, I set it up page filing to System managed and the values it has provide are:

        Currently allocated 2047MB
        Recommended 3070MB
        Minimum allowed 2MB.

What was that supposed to mean?? You came back with a sarcastic response within 12 hours when nobody offers you an answer to your question. NOT impressed!!

Actually MS'es recomendations are system RAM + 12MB. This is to allow the computer in a crash scenario to dump the contents of system memory to the HDD.

Are you running short of disk space and thats why you need to set your pagefile to a specific size??

Disk space is cheap enough no not to worry about this.

To follow up on Wullie's comments....

... if you've got 2gb of RAM (more than some of my servers here at work!) then why on earth do you care what size your page file is??!!! Heck if you can afford 2gb of RAM then buy another hard drive and use that as your 'page file drive'! - MS recommend that too!

                  I apologize for the comment.

Sorry for my horrid spelling errors as well.

I'll setup my pagefile on my 3rd harddrive then. Thanks for the advice folks.
