  • default Domain policy

    Hi

    I am trying to create a new user on my SBS2003.

    it keeps on coming up with a error message about the password on the server policy

    I have gone through the article on how to disable the policy and apply it gpupdate /force

    but still unable to disable the password complexities.

    any ideas

      Re: default Domain policy

      SBS has some default policies not found in the standard install of Windows 2003. Its possible that the policy that if affecting you is not the default domain policy. Check the other policies and you'll probably find that its also set within one of them.

      Tip: Turning off password complexity is not recommended by Microsoft.

      Good luck.

        Re: default Domain policy

        If you make all of the items "not defined" or disabled, it will still not let you use weak passwords.

        If you set it up like this, It will allow you to use weak passwords:

        History = 1
        Max age= 42
        Min age = 0
        Min length = 0
        complex = disabled
        Reverse. = disabled

        ....though not recommended.
        Thank you,

        Marc
