    Re: Server Shutdown notification

Not so easy in Server 2003 -- in 2008 you could attach a task to an event

    Have you looked at SCOM?

          Re: Server Shutdown notification

No -- SBS components will only run on SBS
Can you define what you want to do -- a shutdown script ( for scripts to send mail) may work

If any Event occurs , this should be alert me via mail. only in windows 2003 !

Example: Disk Space alert, remote log on,server shutdown....

I want to complete this task using windows 2003.

              Re: Server Shutdown notification

tbh you really need SCOM or a similar product -- the work required to do it yourself will (IMHO) far outweigh the cost of the central monitoring system

                Re: Server Shutdown notification

especially if you only have one exchange server.. if that server restarts, it can't really send a msg can it ?

you could look at something like What'sUp, or Nagios, etc, to do basic network monitoring? (I'd recommend something easy, simple, painless and foolproof, in your case.)

Unfortunately, no, I can't tell you step by step how to do this.

i use a monitoring tool called "OpenNMS" .. you just need to enable snmp on each server that want to be monitored.. you can configure it to send email(relay to exchange, gmail, others smart host) or you can configure it to send sms...
