  • Server 2K3, xp clients unable to browse to shares

    Hi all,

    Scenario is 2 x win server 2003 dc's

    1 has Exch 2003,

    Both are GC servers

Exchange server crashed, restored using an old image about 1 year old.

2nd DC was unplugged from the network and demoted,

Brought exchange server up, and adjusted the date and time to current date and time.

Rejoined the 2nd dc to the domain.

Both servers see each other OK.

we removed the XP clients from the domain and rejoined.

Clients cannot browse to \\server\share but they can browse to \\192.168.1.10\share

both DCs can see each others shares.

    advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sounds like DNS.

    Can you ping by FQDN?

Unless you changed the tombstone from the default, restoring a 1 year old backup is going to cause you problems. I suggest starting with a fresh install and a new domain.
