  • user rights when creating home folders automatically in AD

I'm bit confused about best practises when i try to make user home folders with proper permissions. Here is what i do now:

Create folder ie. Users/ Share the folder with Share permissions Everyone Full control. Then on Security tab i only leave Administrator with Full control rights.

Now i go to AD and create users and on their properties i select Account tab and select radio button Connect and select the letter and give the path to the home folder ie. \\server1\Users\%username%

And the users home folder is created just fine except both admin and the user has full control over that folder when there should only be user with full control.

Is there a way to do that so that only the user will have the control to that folder?

block inheritans on the root of the users home folder then change the administrator permission and apply it to this folder and subfolders and files.
but why do you want to do that?
the administrator always can take ownership of the folder and gain acess.
    Good Luck

I have the opposite problem. When creating a home folder using %username% I want to have it give access to another Active Directory Group.

Then add that AD Group to the SHARE under which the user folder resides. Permissions will be inherited.

Gunna, please give us a detailed description of exactly what you want to do. I am having second thoughts on what you are trying to achieve.
