  • Win 2003 64bit high CPU usage

    Hi there,
as per the thread title, I have got Windows 2003 64bit installed on a virtual dedicated server and it is experiencing high CPU usage peaks (80-90%) and slow performance.

It is running SQL Server 2005 express edition and IIS 6. Few small web sites are running.

I had a look at the process explorer and windows task manager, but could not really find any helpful information.

Is there any one who can help to try and isolate the cause of this behaviour?

    Regards,
    D.

Can you give us the full hardware specs of the server?

Do the peaks relate to SQL activity (re-indexing, or complex queries)?

      Hi Ossian,
      thanks for your interest.

      The machine specs are:
Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processor 2352, 2 GB of RAM, 30 GB Free Space on the main (and only) disk.

And no, I would not say it is because of re-indexings or complex queries as all the tables have only few rows. The biggest has got something like 148K rows.

      Regards,
      D.
