Posting in the correct forum would be a good start. Moved from XP client forum

Is the server in a domain?
Any policies applying to block cmd?

      Try also,
      CMD.exe /D
The /D switch disables execution of AutoRun commands from registry

i would suspect your system adminsitrator has disabled the cmd prompt.

Check for the existance of the Autoexec.nt file in C:\Windows\system32. Make sure it exists and does not contain any exit commands or other things that may prevent access.
