  • using printdriverinfor.exe remotely

Has anyone been able to use this too against a remote server? When I try, like this: C:\>printdriverinfo.exe /p:FM32F5PBC /s:fmsprint002

    I get this every time.

An error has occured getting the driver and printer info.. getlasterror = 1801

If anyone has a clue to using this tool remotely, I would love to hear it.

    Thanks,
    Tomas

Please use RK 2003 printdriverinfo.exe version:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    http://www.jsifaq.com/SUBR/tip8600/rh8649.htm

Also, check that there no FW that block access to the remote server.

Ok. I think the firewall might be the issue. I mislead a little on my initial post. I am an instructional designer and I am creating training for these tools for my employer. My subject matter expert (sme) reported the problem with remote application for this tool. She uses the 2003 version (I think, but I will check).

Can you confirm that you have successfully used printdriverinfo.exe remotely yourself? If I can confidently report that others use it, then we can work on the problem. Otherwise, there is the suspician that the tool just doesn't work remotely.

      Thanks

I checked about the firewall. This is a large corporation and the user is a server support person. She remotes into servers every day with tasklist and taskkill, so it is doubtful that fw is the issue (I can't ask her because she is out today).
