  • High CPU on TS

    Hi,

I'm running terminal server on virtual server running windows 2003.

I have about 30 users that connect to it, in the last couple of days there is a starnge problem: i see iexplore.exe with >50% cpu and when I kill it it jump to another user iexplore.exe and so on and on....

if I keep killing the process for few minutes the cpu level go back to 5-10%

    any ideas?

Could you give us an idea what virtualisation platform you are using, the resources on the host (RAM and CPU) and the resources given to the virtual machine?

When you say "1 CPU" do you mean one core or four of the 8 cores I presume you have?
How many of your 30 users are concurrent?

I have about 25 concurrent users.

          here are the vm settings:

You could add extra processor cores -- you have one core only

I say make it a tri/quad core, and you should have no problems with it.

Cant do 3 core in HyperV -- only 2^n

Actually I have just noticed that (with Server 2008R2 SP1 RC) you can have a 3-core VM under HyperV -- along with the dynamic memory

                    Re: High CPU on TS

I will try that later, but my main question is not how to give more resource but why it's happening...it only started 2-3 days ago until then everything was fine.

I do not know why it has not happened before, but you are running the TS on low specs.

                        Ok I added another cpu.
in task manager under performance tab I still see only one cpu graph, is that normal?

                          No, should see both
Try reinstalling integration services to update the HAL
