  • Identifying Services Causing Processor Peak

Hi all, sorry if simple question but google has failed me.

Is there any way of identifying which service is causing a cpu spike?

The process is the svchost.exe but it has multiple services running under it:

AeLookupSvc, AudioSrv, BITS, Browser, CryptSvc, dmserver, EventSystem, helpsvc, lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation, Netman, Nla, RasMan, Schedule, seclogon, SENS,ShellHWDetection, TrkWks, winmgmt,

event logging hasnt produced any helpfull information.

    Check this out:

    http://svchostviewer.codeplex.com/

It shows detailed information that may help you track the culprit down.

I looked at this program but found the command: tasklist /svc that produced the information I wanted plus the website doesnt say anything about the logging the processes.

As these happen at random times of the days it will be hard to use.
