  • DCOM error 10009

I am getting error the following error on some Windows 2003 machines, "DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer xxxx using any of the configured protocols."

My understanding is that machine xxxx was an exchange 2000 or 2003 server that crashed some three years ago and was removed.

My question is why are some machines still trying to communicate with this old machine and do I get the rest of the network to realize that it is not coming back? Trying to eliminate this error, thanks.

    Re: DCOM error 10009

find out which dcom component it is
might require going through dcomcnfg to find it all, could be slow and laborious - probably a better way than i'm thinkg of though

or, you could just ignore the message - they are mostly not a big deal.

Is there any more info in the error? Some kind of GUID?
