  • Recommended Upgrade Sequence Domain Controllers / Exchange

We have a client environment that has (2) Windows Server 2003 domain controllers and an Exchange 2007 Server on Server 2008.

I would like to know the recommended sequence.

Should we upgrade the Domain controllers first and then upgrade Exchange? or does the sequence not matter?

Best regards and Happy New Year!

I don't think the order for DCs / Exchange matters, but with Exchange 2007 (IIRC) it was do the mailbox role last - CAS and HT first

When you say "upgrade" do you mean "patch" or do you mean upgrade to a new version - if so, what?

The DC's would go up to Server 2012 R2 and the Exchange would be migrated to Exchange 2013.
