    Hi guys,

how are u? just a quick question we seem to have someone on the network that is saving a lot of files on the network which is causing file server to get filled up really quickly, is there any software out there which i can use to see where all these large files are and also which user is putting them on. we have something like 300 people working at the site so its a bit hard to monitor these things, just wanted to know if there is anything to view. Also it has to be free software for now as the money in the IT department is tight for the next few months.

get treesize pro, it gives you graphs of the disk usage etc then you can see the big users.

i use it all the time to stop staff dropping the contents of their mp3 players in the network so they can listen through the laptop and jam up the wifi network.

If you are using 2003 R2, have a look at FSRM (quotas and file screening)
