  • W2k DNS forwarding

I am rebuilding a Windows 2000 Server and all has gone okay by and large. One query though:

I used the DNS wizard to set up the DNS server using the usual domain.local Unlike W2003 Server though it won't allow me to put in forwarders - says it is a root server and therefore cannot have forwarders. How does it resolve external addresses?

At the moment if I use the AD 'best practice' of pointing clients to the AD DNS server it can't resolve internet hosts.

    Thanks

    Classic

Select the Advanced view, and remove the root zone ".". After that you can define forwarders and external root servers.
