  • NTFS Permissions

i know its possible to set permissions on folders/files to stop renaming, and writing to a folder.

but can you prevent file copying?

so if a user right clicks and selects copy then tries to paste on desktop, it will error?

    Re: NTFS Permissions

Only way you can do that using NTFS is by denying write permission on the target.

If you are running 2003R2, investigate Rights Management Services, which will allow you to do that on a document level, but not for non-office files or for folders

(There may be 3rd party utilities as well, but I am not aware of any)
