  • Upgrade on same Server from 2003R2 to 2008R2

    Hi,

We have here at old plant A Windows 2003R2 32Bit Server As Primery Domain controller and One more Server as Additional Domain Controller (windows 2003R2).

Looking for Upgrade Process of Windows 2003 32Bit to Windows 2008R2; but there is no process. As I searched and found 32 Bit 2003 OS cannot upgrade to Windows 2008 R2.

Any Suggestion if I want to Upgrade the same server with 2008R2 ?

There is no inplace upgrade process across architectures - you will have to backup (copy) data, format, install 2008R2 and restore data
    Supported upgrade paths are https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...(v=ws.10).aspx

You can't directly upgrade from a 32 bit operating system to a 64 bit operating system.

What is on the server that requires an upgrade rather than clean install?

There are no upgrade paths from 32 to 64 bit versions of Windows. I would suggest you look into a Side by Side migration and transferring the roles to a (new) server.
