    Hi

have a 200 server with 200 exchange due to be consigned to the graveyard in the sky in June,

Today the client lost all exchange functions although they could access the server for data files.

Went on site and found an error message

    List functon out of bounds.

Checked the event log and had red stars against server control manager
    w3svc
    w32time
    and several others

Any ideas as to what has happened?

    thanks

    Ian

    Re: List index

No, but I suggest damage limitation is a priority
Extract all Exchange mailboxes to PSTs. If you cannot, make sure you recover the mdb and stm files (plus logs) for external recovery
Backup all data to external devices
Move the new server up 2 months!

      Hi

Thanks for that silly question but as I cannot connect to any box from any workstation how can I extract the mail boxes to PST.

      thanks

        Re: List index

On the server, backup your mdbdata folder (or wherever the mailboxes are) first
Try, somehow, to get Exchange running
Use exmerge (I think that came with E2K) to get the data out
Alternatively, look at OnTrack's PowerControls (expensive, but may save your bacon!) to get the data from the backed up files

When was the last good backup done???

What is the status of the exchange services???

What exactly do the event logs say???

Is this server also a DC???
