    problem:
after playing around with the RRAS protocols (big mistake!!)
it ask me for the Installation cd, with the I386 folder.
i direct it to some folder that contain I386 for NT, (but i dont know if it was SP6).
after that i restart the server. from that point, all services not working only the exchange services (lucky me).

    symptoms:
    - can`t get to the SBS console interface
    - unable to use mmc
    - unable to browse network protocol
    - all services not working (but it show them in "start" state
    - when im trying to upgrade with sp6 the installtion hang in the end.
(its happen in any software that i want to install)

    & lot more ...

what should i do? Im totally stuck!!
    please help!
    I appreciate your help

    Thanks in advanced

Re: Problem in NT4.5 SBS after network changes

Sounds like you really need to get SP6a installed so that you get all of the correct DLLs and EXEs in place - that would start to solve most of the problems.

Did you try to install SP6 or SP6a? As SP6a supercedes SP6, it would be best to try that one.

If you try the SP6a installation again, does it complete successfully?

(Sideline question which could provide some help in this case: Does NT4.0 Server have a Safe Mode? Its been so long since I've used NT4.0, I just don't remember.)

NT4 doesn't have a safe mode option unfortunately.

Back to the question in hand most problems like this can be resolved using the latest service pack for NT4, which is SP6a. As alot of you will remember NT4 was notoriously crap for need ing the SP's reapplied after any small changes.

In Windows NT4.0, there is the option somewhere, Last Known Good Configuration.

Would using this feature help at all? (I've never used it before, so I'm not sure how much help it could offer)
