  • problem with system monitor

    i have windows server 2003 x64 with DC,AD,DNS and DHCP server.When i'm trying to track system monitor, he doesn't work. i had also a problem with counters and i used link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956 and some counters have appeared in consloe but system monitor doesn't work. in the services console performance service sysmonlog is stopped. he stand automatic and i can't started them. when i try to start them i receive a error.
    please help me

      Download windows extensible performance counter utility for this OS and then go through each and every object. Where ever you find the check box in exctrlst.exe is unchecked just check them off...see if you can get this working...


      can't recollect the options for this utility now but try to explore this utility. This will help finding your the missing perf counters.

        i tried to load some counters of some objects and syste monitor work, but i don't see basic objects: memory, processor, hdd, network adapter. where are they?

          I remember there is a tool from Microsoft called "Performance counter rebuild wizard" utility which is an microsoft internal tool to rebuild performance counters with ease. You may request this tool by calling Microsoft or trying google if any kind hearted person has this for you.



          Try your luck as rebuilding performance counters manually gives little chances of getting all your counters back on the system. I myself stuck in many places after the manual rebuild.

          Try that tool first in some testing machine such as VM and then on production to know its functionality.

            i fixed my problem with the exctrlst.exe "windows extensible performance counter utility". When i started this tool i found that some dll files like perfproc.dll, perf os etc have not started. i enabled them and basic objects are showed in system monitor. thnks for help
