  • DPM 2007 and MOSS 2007 SSP Backup

    Hi,

I have a MOSS 2007 SP2 farm consisting of a SQL server, MOSS APP server and 2 MOSS WFE servers. All servers have the latest DPM client installed too.

We want to back up with DPM 2007 SP1 (with latest hotfixes as of today). After running the DPM Client's ConfigureSharePoint.exe with both the switches on the WFE server and i'm able to backup the SharePoint farm content no problems.

The problem i'm having however is with the SSP_Component. In my case called SSPComponent_SharedServices1. What ever I do it comes up as "Replica is inconsistent" as soon as I create the replica for the first time. The error given is as follows:

    SP_OAKSMFSPSQL01\SharePoint_Config\SSPComponent_Sh aredServices1

The replica of Shared Services Provider SSP_OAKSMFSPSQL01\SharePoint_Config\SSPComponent_S haredServices1 on oaksmfspsql01.domainname.co.uk is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent.

For SharePoint farm, recovery points will continue getting created with the databases that are consistent. To backup inconsistent databases, run a consistency check on the farm. (ID 3106)

Prepare for backup operation for Shared Services Provider SSP_OAKSMFSPSQL01\SharePoint_Config\SSPComponent_S haredServices1 on oaksmfspsql01.domainname.co.uk has been stopped because this operation depended on another backup operation which failed or was cancelled. (ID 30200)

I've gone through and ripped out the dpm clients, and reinstalled, wiped out all the replicas and recreated about 3 or so times, still this same error. Note: this is the initial setup and has never worked.

The account i've used when configuring the dpm client on the WFE server is a farm administrator and has local admin rights over all servers in the farm.

See screenshot and error message from the WFE server below:

    QUESTIONS:
Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?
And if I actually need to backup this component of sharepoint at all?
Is this an extra bit that is already being backed up under the other backups and thus failing because of this as its surplus to requirements?

If anyone can help that would be great. I'm about to raise this with Microsoft support to see if they can fix it but that means putting an order through our ordering system that takes at least a month!

    Thanks.

Re: DPM 2007 and MOSS 2007 SSP Backup

Did you find a fix to this issue? We are having exactly the same problem.

    Thanks!
