  • Clone server

    hello,
I ve a Big Siemens server configured as a Domain controller (OS : 2003 server Enterprise. TSE, Application, VPN, DNS, Active directory; licence TSE); the domain is : X-TSE.local

    (*)
i would like to put an other server (hp) member of X-TSE.local and have only:
TSE, the same ACTIVE DIRECTORY (of siemens), APLICATION,VPN
I don't want an other Domain Controller.

    My question :
is it possible to do it ? (*)
And if yes, can you describe me ALL i need to do ? and how?
    thank's a lot!

    Re: Clone server

I'm not sure I got you. You need another MEMBER SERVER in the same domain? Why not just install it, join the domain, and then install the required applications. I'm not sure it's possible to just clone all the various settings from one server to the new one.
    Cheers,

      Active directory clone

      Hello :

2 servers : SIEMENS :domain controller, TSE, VPN (DNS; Active directory)
      HP (new): TSE only

i ve join the new server HP to my domain.
i ve installed TSE role; configure GPO for TSE (remote desktop) ok.

is it possible to have "the same active directory (so users) than siemens server" in my HP server ? How to do it ?

        Re: Active directory clone

You would need to dcpromo the other server to have a secondary dc

          Re: Clone server

You can't have a copy of Active Directory unless you promote the new server to be a domain controller.

Im confused I think this is what you want:

if you just DCpromo your 2nd server up as an "Aditional domain controler in the same forest" and use a administer account on this, this is all you have to do, Active directory will be identical looking at it from say "Active directy users and computers"

(start > run >type dcpromo>create an aditional domain controler in the same forest, I think this is the 2nd option, follow the wizzard)
