  • Repplication issue. RPC service in starting mode

    Good day All,

I am new in this forum. Here is my problem:
I have two DC 's with windows server 2003 and one has exchange 2003 installed on it. The main issue is that the exchange server has problem to replicate with the main DC and:
    1. RPC service failed to start on exchange
    2. File Replication Service has disapear from the services console on exchange server
    3. Users cannot get connected to their mailboxes
    4. Unable to ping the exchange server name!

    Thank you in advance!

I guess this was working at some stage, so, what happened, or was changed, just before your problems started occuring? From the sounds of it, whatever has gone wrong, in all liklihood did NOT go wrong by itself..

it sounds like a combination of things, including failure of directory services.

open your exchange system manager, expand recipients, then recipient update services.
slect the 'enterprise' recipient policy, and it should have the name of an exchange server, and of a domain controller.
    are they correct ?

what error messges are in the event logs ?
review your services console, sort by startup type, and see if any other 'automatic' services are not started, or stuck in a starting status

Can you put some event logs app and system when this issue occurs?

and do you see ipsec service started and running.
      Thanks & Regards
