  • w32tm on server 2000 remove config

    hello all

i have been given a problem (caused by someone else i would like to add) that a DC has been set as a time server pointing at a external time source.

the PDC on the domain is working correctly an is serving time.

how do i remove the w32tm settings from the non PDC server so it just syncs with the PDC a per normal?

i have tried w32tm /unregister but this didnt work..

do i have to delete reg entries?

    does all that make sense?

    thanks

Have a look at this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216734
and try doing the reverse process.

Re: w32tm on server 2000 remove config

      im a numpty!

      i did
      Code:
net time /setsntp:name of our pdc
      then did

      Code:
      w32tm -once -test -v
this showed that it had binded to the PDC an said something about time diff of < 1

so it must be kinda working now...

if i run (from my XP box)
      Code:
       w32tm /monitor
      i get the following

      C:\Documents and Settings\admin>w32tm /monitor
      DC2.DOMAIN.ds [192.168.10.196]:
      ICMP: 0ms delay.
      NTP: -1.6640000s offset from DC1.DOMAIN.ds
      RefID: unspecified / unsynchronized [0.0.0.0]
      DC1.DOMAIN.ds *** PDC *** [192.168.10.193]:
      ICMP: 0ms delay.
      NTP: +0.0000000s offset from DC1.DOMAIN.ds
      RefID: ntp2.usno.navy.mil [192.5.41.209]
      DC3.DOMAIN.ds [192.168.10.194]:
      ICMP: 0ms delay.
NTP: error WSAECONNRESET - no server listening on NTP port

i think i still have issues.....i still have a time diff between my XP box an the PDC too
