  • Office 2003 Standard Web Component Slipstreaming

I have Office 2003 Standard and am trying to slipstream SP1.

Following Daniel Petri's excellent instructions at the below URL,

    I've done the following:

    1. Administrative install
    2. Extract service pack files
    3. Slipstreamed service pack using this command:

    msiexec /p E:\Office2003SP1\MAINSP1ff.msp /a E:\Office2003\STD11.MSI shortfilenames=true /qb

    No problem.

    4. Attempted to slipstream web components using the following command:

    msiexec /p E:\Office2003SP1\OWC11SP1ff.msp /a E:\Office2003\OWC11.MSI shortfilenames=true /qb

Instead of a slipstream, I got the following error message:

"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."

I don't understand what went wrong? Daniel Petri's examples use Office 2003 Pro. Does Office 2003 Std not integrate with "Office Web Components" in SP1?

I can't figure out why because the "OWC11.MSI" file is in the Office 2003 folder and the "OWC11SP1ff.msp" file is in the Office2003SP1 folder.

    Any suggestions?
