  • Forest Prep for 2008

Hi all, We have a new 2008 server and I need to promote it to a Dc so I can use it as license server so I have followed the guide on here for prepping the forest when having 2000 DC's in the forest. I ran adprep on the schema and it looked ok all the way through until it got to the end. Could anyone give me some advice? I have looked at the log file and it doesn't help me to much.

I have got an error at the end of it saying unable to update the forest.

Below is the bottom of the log file, I wont post all of it just yet as it’s huge.

Adprep verified the state of operation cn=ffa5ee3c-1405-476d-b344-7ad37d69cc25,cn=Operations,cn=ForestUpdates,CN=Con figuration,DC=local,DC=cadnet.
    [Status/Consequence]
The operation has not run or is not currently running. It will be run next.

Adprep was unable to complete because the call back function failed.
    [Status/Consequence]

    [User Action]
Check the log file ADPrep.log, in the C:\WINNT\debug\adprep\logs\20100121112305 directory for more information.

Adprep was unable to update forest information.
    [Status/Consequence]
Adprep requires access to existing forest-wide information from the schema master in order to complete this operation.
    [User Action]
Check the log file, ADPrep.log, in the C:\WINNT\debug\adprep\logs\20100121112305 directory for more information.

    Thanks,
    Si

After a quick look on line I have seen a few posts about anti-virus so I have disabled it and re ran and all is now fine!
