    Re: Internet access block

The easiest way to block internet access for a user is to set their proxy server settings to a non-existent proxy server, and prevent them from changing the setting:

that's an excellent way of doing it landy - never thought of that... although it depends how determined your users are, and how secure your systems already are.... won't stop someone who uses firefox

I would go with something a bit more out of sight - deny all outbound traffic on the router or edge device, except from specific host addresses within the network (ie, mailserver allowed to outbound port 25)

As much as I prefer Firefox myself, in a Corporate environment I always recommend (and request it to be documented) that IE is the only browser permitted. There are of course pros and cons to all browsers, but IMO no-one is ever going to get ahead of IE until they make their browsers GPO compliant.

Of course if your users are local admins (which they shouldn't be ) then they may well have other browsers.

How about using a Firefox ADM template. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...oq=firefox+gpo

Of course saivinay.27's environment may not need anything except IE "blockers".

            Dear All,

Thanks for your replies, I given some different ip address in proxy server so the users are not able to access the interenet. but the thing is they are able to access the net through firefox. We are not using any router in my office. I just want to disable complete internet access to users.

Any one can suggest on this pls

              Re: Internet access block

to block the use of firefox, you need to investigate using a gpo to prevent the installation and/or use of firefox..

or use biggle's suggestion of the firefox adm template
